still cannot access Oracle, java, Malwarebytes, or anything with 'windows' or 'microsoft' in url trying just gets new tab with constant loading animation and 'waiting for ' in status bar (other system has no problem with any of these sites, both systems hardwired to same router) could not download Malwarebytes or ADWCleaner, again d/l'd on other system and transferred to this one, installed and ran both MB triggered on one file (which was clean but let it remove it anyway, have a backup), ADW found and removed two 'possible adware' entries from registry also ran TDSKiller, which I also had to d/l on other system, it found nothing downloaded free copy of UnhackMe (from giveaway site), let it and Kaspersky and MB and ESET Online all do complete scans at this point - all give system clean bill of health could not update java, java page loads but cannot download anything, left or right click does nothing downloaded java8 on other computer, transferred to this one (via flashdrive) and installed tried to test installation and anything I click at java site merely links to 'uninstall java' online java game (with own client, no browser involved) partially loads then complains it can't find resources, though the file mentioned is present in teh java install folder attempting to run java uninstaller gets instant popup 'cannot connect to ', open browser, try, nothing but blank page with Oracle logo in upper left. when first ran browser a new tab opened informing me Flagfox had updated, before i could even close this the Flagfox page was replaced by a Russian porn site in the Netherlands (blocked by NoScript, all I see is a white page with Cyrillic text), I can close that tab but it reappears every time browser starts there are no toolbars, homepage replacements, or search redirects

Fired up fine first time, let Kaspersky update and do full scan, then update drivers, etc.

System is old Vista 32 brought out of mothballs last month (after four years) and given new PS.
